Monkey Pictures Although when we think of monkeys, many of us conjure images of chimps, orangutans and other apes, the word monkey actually refers to the smaller, tailed primates of the world. There are two kinds of proper monkey--old world and new world. The difference is that for the new world specimens, noses are flatter, with side facing nostrils, compared to the narrow noses and downward facing nostrils of old world versions. Many are small, tree dwelling and nocturnal. They range from less than palm-sized to about the size of a dog. Although the term monkey is by now confusing to you (!), below you'll find all sorts of primate pictures which I collectively term "monkey pictures," as you're most likely searching for apes as well as proper monkeys.
