Dolphin Pictures
In South Carolina as a young kid, I had the distinct pleasure of witnessing dolphins firsthand. Upon a little black old boat, with the smell of salt water and the sun beating down upon the deck, our crowd of travellers had the opportunity to hand feed dolphins in their natural environment. A dolphin would spy what must have been to it our distinctive craft and idle right to either side, poking its beak out of the water's crest from time to time, sizing up the situation. In the intracostal waterway did we then feed one of the most intelligent beings of the sea. From a pail, we'd grab a dead fish and jiggle and wriggle it over the side of the boat. At first, the dolphin would jump straight out of the water to retrieve this offering. Later, its intelligence clearly kicking in (or its hunger subsiding) it would not be as accomodating, and would sulk in the water until we either tossed the fish directly to it or by its side, the creature not wanting to flaunt its high jumping abilities. I loved the spectacle, loved the day, loved the experience. These are nature's creatures...crafted of land animals brought back to the sea. They are mighty, intelligent, sentient and sleekly beautiful. Feed a dolphin in your life and you'll connect with nature in a totally different way.
